Apple iPhone4 Smartphone Review
iPhone 4 lost some of it’s publicity to iPad when it published, I think Apple should have waited a bit longer between these two. Now when all Apple fans have bought iPad, do they have enough money to buy the (quite expensive) iPhone 4?
Hardware of the iPhone 4 is okay. It is just about the best there is now. But there’s only few new things. Apple A4 processor runs at 1 GHz as does HTC Desires’ and Hd2’s processors too. Hd2 has even bigger screen than iPhone 4. 512 MB of eDRAM is the same as HTC’s top models.
It’s not the hardware that makes the iPhone 4 to work. Of course it’s important to have fast processor and enough RAM to use applications, surf the web, even play games. But the main beauty of Apple iPhone 4 is its operating system. It is so simple that the dumbest people can use it (maybe even too simple), it is fast and it just works. When you download programs to iPhone 4, you can be sure that it works on it, no matter what program it is. When you open up your browser, you can be sure that it opens and you can get to internet.
You can clearly see that Apple has listened to it’s customers. And even more, it has listened to the people against its customers. “iPhone doesn’t even have multi tasking” Well, now it does. And it does it better than any other OS so far, it’s smooth, fast and saves battery. “You can’t change anything on iPhone”. In iPhone 4 you can change the way to organize your apps by folders just by dragging the icon to the folder. OS even changes the name of the folder automatically. And these things continues.
Apple has done a lot to market FaceTime: the video calling application for iPhone 4. It works straight from the box. Iphone to iPhone via Wifi. For video call it uses its front camera and for photos the better back camera (5.0 megapixels with LED Flash). Front camera isn’t that great but it works in bright lightning for video calls. Back camera is OK and you can get pretty good pictures with it. Somehow I’d still have expected better camera for iPhone 4. Though it can capture HD (720p) videos at 30fps, that is good if you need video capturing with your phone. Of course video quality isn’t that great in poor lightning.
IPhone 4 has two capacity versions: 16gb and 32gb. Both are flash memory and you can’t add memory card. If you’re planning to take a lot of videos, I’d recommend the 32gb version, as for the music listeners too.
Touch screen of iPhone 4 is just amazing. Okay, it is not very big but that makes it possible to fit better in pocket and hand. Resolution of the touch screen is 960 x 640 and the size is 3.5 inch. That resolution by the way is so big that you can’t see the pixels with bare eyes. Contrast is 800:1 which makes it possible to use it in bright sun light. Multi touch is supported as usual from Apple.
Business usage of iPhone 4 is pretty much a matter of taste: some people want better support for programs and different kind of programs and sync-ability. Others may prefer iTunes for syncing and like the simpleness of iPhone 4.
Design of iPhone is another matter of taste. Personally I like the way it looks, it looks more professional than 3GS and doesn’t look like a toy. It’s front and covers are engineered glass, which they use in helicopter’s windshields. It’s durable, good-looking and scratchproofer than ever.
Apple has managed to invent something new to iPhone 4: it has two microphones. One under the phone and other next to the speaker. Normally the lower, main microphone, is used for voice calls and commands. The upper mic is for FaceTime and for improving the sound quality on calls. It should suppress noise more this way so you don’t have to yell to your phone even in louder enviroments.
And then there’s the price: the price is just too high. Iphone 4 is great, good phone but it is just too expensive. The price they are asking for a mobile phone is just amazing. Sure nice features must cost but not this much. I have had a lot of smart phones but I’d not pay that much for a phone, no matter how good it is.
If you’re very rich (or an apple fan) you should get this. Apple iPhone 4 is good, just too over-priced a phone.
